DENSO handheld terminals in the Slovenian company ADK d.o.o.
Founded in 1995, ADK d.o.o. is one of Slovenia's largest companies in the metalworking industry and a customer of DENSO partner Comtron d.o.o. The company specializes in the construction of complex steel structures, which are manufactured in the factory using fine-grained structural steel. Fabrication and assembly are supported by the design department. The company manufactures vertical jacks, mining equipment and machines for civil engineering. ADK maintains several production sites.
The company uses DENSO BHT-1100BWB-CE series mobile data collection devices with longer battery life. All of the mobile data collection devices were purchased over the past three years to optimize the company's warehouse management (inventory management).
The selection process began with the testing of different products from various manufacturers, from which the DENSO Handheld Terminal BHT-1100BWB-CE emerged as the winner due to its best price-performance ratio. The handheld readers are robust and ergonomically designed, offering a large display and a good grip, which is ideal for warehouse and production workers, who always have to wear gloves. The size and layout of the frequently used keys are other important factors. The keys are large enough to virtually eliminate errors when operating with gloves. The responsiveness is very good. Another important factor was the 3-year warranty, as no other manufacturer could offer a comparable warranty free of charge. DENSO partner Comtron d.o.o. assisted its customer ADK in the decision-making process, and good recommendations and references from other users ultimately convinced ADK that the DENSO readers were the right choice for its requirements.
Implementation ADK tested the BHT-1100 devices in a pilot phase with the support of Comtron d.o.o., which was able to provide a demo unit and offered on-site training. When ADK received the handheld terminals, implementation was quick and straightforward.
Initial feedback indicated that the DENSO devices were robust enough to be used every day, all day long, and worked well in demanding environments. Productivity and efficiency in data collection at ADK was increased and employee acceptance of the new devices was excellent, in part because the devices are designed for one-handed operation. To date, there have been no warranty claims.
Overall, the new DENSO devices have been well received and ADK recommends the BHT-1100 to anyone interested.
