Mammoth task of digitalisation: DENSO supports the healthcare sector

The central prerequisite for the successful further development of the healthcare system is the implementation of digitalisation. DENSO accompanies hospitals and other institutions on their way.

According to its own statements, the Federal Ministry of Health has created the necessary framework and advanced the digital transformation step by step. But in order to stay on course economically, health care institutions and employees have to tackle a mammoth task: the implementation of digitalisation at all levels. Even if the implementation is gradual, the challenges are immense.

In a Deloitte survey in selected European countries, around 47 percent of the doctors and nurses surveyed from Germany said that they and their organisation were reasonably well prepared for the introduction of digital technologies. Another 19 percent said they were very well prepared. That is still too little. DENSO can help optimise these assessments. Because DENSO supports the staff in hospitals and healthcare facilities in the structural change and in the digitalisation of process flows. The keyword: Mobile data capture. The SC1-QB scanner , which was recently launched on the European market and for which a patent application has been filed, offers advantages for improving existing processes in the healthcare sector and making them more efficient.

Mobile data capture in hospitals

Mobile data capture can be used in many areas of hospitals, for example in patient admissions or when working with the Electronic Patient Record (EPR). Mobile data capture and networked patient care allow healthcare workers to view all relevant information without spending a lot of time.

The SC1-QB comes into play when capturing mobile data. While this innovative scanner can also be used in offices, restaurants, retail and other multi-functional spaces, its special features offer great advantages over other devices, especially in the healthcare sector.

The SC1-QB revolutionises healthcare

The smooth surface of the SC1-QB ensures that no microbes or pathogens can hide. Openings such as crevices, cracks or screw holes simply do not exist. This makes the scanner easy to clean and suitable for daily contact with chemical disinfectants for antibacterial cleaning - important features for use in the healthcare sector, primarily in hospitals. This video shows the design of the SC1-QB and how it can support the workforce when used in hospitals as well as other facilities.

In a nutshell, the SC1-QB works in a simple way: patient information is automatically captured by the scanner when the user scans a QR code or barcode. This QR code or barcode was created in advance by the responsible hospital or institution and accompanies the patient on his or her way in the hospital or institution. In practice, this can look like scanning the patient's wristband during a visit. The medical staff can then quickly and easily view the relevant patient data, for example laboratory results, previous treatments and the patient's medical history. This new system is called mobile ward round.

But the SC1-QB is also a practical helper in other areas. For example, the scanner can be used for sterile supplies. Due to its special surface, it is ideal for optimising processes in this hygienically demanding and sensitive area thanks to mobile data capture. And the SC1-QB scores again: it weighs only 130 grams and is the lightest scanner in its class (as of August 2022). The SC1-QB is also equipped with Bluetooth 5 (BLE) and thus offers additional wireless functionality.

Unfortunately, the scanner cannot avoid hectic situations - but it can cope with them.

It is a well-known fact that things can quickly get hectic, especially in the healthcare sector. It is particularly helpful that the SC1-QB is fully charged within three minutes. The internal capacitor ensures that unnecessary downtime is avoided. Even when the battery is low, the scanner can perform dozens of scans after only 60 seconds of charging. Unlike conventional batteries of mobile data capture devices, the internal capacitor of the SC1-QB never needs to be replaced.

Unfortunately, the new scanner cannot avert hectic situations, but it can withstand them. This is because it has been designed to withstand daily use, which means that in the event of hectic falls from heights of up to two metres, users do not have to worry that it would then no longer be operational. The scanner is also dust-resistant and waterproof.

Mobile data capture is essential in the health sector

Mobile data capture must always go hand in hand with digitalisation in the healthcare sector. With the help of scanners and mobile computers, it ensures a continuous improvement of treatment processes, logging and administration. Mobile data capture also helps healthcare professionals to ensure greater patient safety.

The SC1-QB enables mobile data capture in hospitals and other healthcare facilities and supports staff in their ongoing mammoth task of digitisation.
