Revolution for the healthcare sector: DENSO launches SC1-QB on the market

The patent-pending scanner has a special surface that prevents the penetration of microbes and pathogens.

To support the increasingly digitalised facilities in the healthcare industry and to create an important breakthrough, DENSO has developed the patent-pending SC1-QB scanner. It is now also available on the European market.

One of the most important features and at the same time a great advantage over other devices is the scanner's smooth surface: as there are no openings such as crevices, cracks or screw holes, no microbes or pathogens can hide in it. The scanner is easy to clean and suitable for daily contact with chemical disinfectants for antibacterial cleaning. This makes the SC1-QB ideal for use in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

The functionality is simple: information about patients is automatically captured with the innovative scanner by users scanning a QR code issued by the responsible hospital or healthcare facility. This is possible, for example, during bedside rounds. Thus, the patient wristband is scanned to quickly and easily access the electronic patient record.

The SC1-QB can also be used in the sterile supply sector to scan sterilised surgical instruments. Due to its special surface, the new scanner can be disinfected particularly well and is therefore the ideal companion in the hygienically demanding and sensitive operating theatre area.

Since the new scanner weighs only 130 grams, it is pleasantly light - even the lightest in its class (as of August 2022). It is also equipped with Bluetooth 5 (BLE) and thus offers additional wireless functionality.

Another advantage is that the internal capacitor of the SC1-QB is fully charged within a maximum of three minutes. This avoids unnecessary downtime. Even with a low charge level, the scanner can manage dozens of scans after only 60 seconds of charging. Unlike conventional batteries, the SC1-QB's internal capacitor never needs to be replaced.

The developers at DENSO have designed the new scanner to withstand daily use. Among other things, it has been tested to withstand several falls from heights of up to two metres. In addition to hospitals and healthcare facilities, the SC1-QB scanner can also be used in offices, restaurants, retail and other multifunctional spaces.
