Scanners and handheld terminals for mobile data capture save time in industry, logistics and retail. Scanning of barcodes and QR Codes® on labels is already widely known. With just one scan, data can be captured and forwarded. However, in some work places products are designed in such a way that conventional paper labels with barcodes and QR Codes are not suitable, for example, where harsh environmental conditions prevail and the durability of conventional labels is not adequate. This is why manufacturers in several industrial branches rely on direct part marking (DPM): With DPM, barcodes and QR Codes are applied directly onto the products, for example by engraving. In this way, they can be clearly marked and identified, for example by using DENSO’s GT20QD hand scanner. Sina Haupt, Marketing Assistant at the DENSO Auto-ID Business Unit, emphasizes the advantages of the new DPM scanner: "With the GT20QD, it will be possible to reliably capture even barcodes and QR Codes, which were applied directly on to metal pieces. Conventional barcode reading devices cannot efficiently scan these codes due to their particular characteristics, such as the reflective surface on which they are printed. Our new DPM scanner, however, is perfectly suited for this task." Here, you will find the product sheet for the GT20QD scanner.
