Retail Technology Show 2024: DENSO presents top-class technologies

At this year's Retail Technology Show in Olympia, London, DENSO will be presenting Auto-ID solutions, RFID readers, mobile computers and QR code-based facial recognition.

The Retail Technology Show is the must-attend event and event highlight for the retail and hospitality industry. The event will take place from 24 to 25 April 2024 in Olympia, London. DENSO WAVE EUROPE is one of the exhibitors and can be found at stand 6G80.

DENSO, together with our partners Retail & Asset Solutions, Printmedia and Trimco Group Ltd, will showcase the latest technological and digital solutions, including QR Code based facial recognition and the BHT-M series, now equipped with Android 13. As RFID is one of the key technologies for Retail, DENSO will also present solutions in this area, for example the SP1 RFID Scanner.

QR Code celebrates its 30th anniversary

Masahiro Hara invented the QR code for DENSO WAVE in 1994. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the QR Code and the QR Code based facial recognition will be one of the highlights at DENSO's stand at the Retail Technology Show.

With the innovative QR code-based technology, companies can use facial recognition at access barriers or for verification in security-relevant processes without having to access databases. This is made possible by the Secure QR Code (SQRC®) from DENSO. A person's facial features are stored in encrypted form in this special QR code. These are then compared with the face of the person requesting access by camera at the access control or verification point.

M for masterpiece: the BHT-M series with Android 13

The BHT-M series from DENSO is the result of continuous perfection. The BHT-M60, BHT-M70 and BHT-M80 models are now equipped with Android 13. They speed up and simplify processes. DENSO will be showcasing the BHT-M series at the Retail Technology Show.

The rugged and powerful handhelds make work easier in Retail, but also in related industries such as logistics and warehouse management. With the BHT-M series, companies can take the necessary steps to digitalise their processes. The handhelds are equipped with DENSO's best scan engine and can capture even the most difficult labels quickly and effortlessly. Visitors to the Retail Technology Show can test how powerful the MDE devices are.

Unrivalled success thanks to RFID devices and solutions from DENSO

DENSO has been working with many customers in the retail sector and related industries such as logistics and warehousing for decades. One of the largest retailers in the UK has significantly improved stock levels and increased sales thanks to the implementation of DENSO's SP1 RFID scanner.

The high-speed UHF RFID scanner easily transforms a smartphone or tablet into an RFID handheld and speeds up processes by more than 50 per cent. The newly developed autopilot scans tags faster and more completely than ever before. Depending on the situation, the autopilot switches to the most suitable mode. The SP1 RFID scanner manages a reading distance of up to 13 metres and achieves a reading speed of up to 1,000 tags per second.

In addition to the SP1 RFID scanner, the ultra-thin stationary UR21 will be on display at the DENSO stand at the Retail Technology Show. The RFID scanner is ideal for smart scanning at the POS. Instead of having to scan each item individually, the UR21 allows the checkout process to be completed more quickly, as it can capture all items with just one scan.

Related to the UR21 is the UR40 from DENSO. The all-in-one RFID reader is ideally suited to the harsh environments that often prevail in warehouses. The scanner reads up to 700 tags per second and makes recording incoming goods child's play.

Another benefit that RFID offers, which visitors to the Retail Technology Show can try out at DENSO's stand, is RFID inventory management. By combining DENSO's efficient RFID technology with the cloud and mobile applications of our partner Chainlane, retailers can digitise their inventory management.

And to round off the RFID experience, DENSO will also be presenting its RFID navigation tags at the Retail Technology Show. The RFID Navigation Tag is a semi-passive UHF band RFID tag that helps to localise goods in warehouses. It is equipped with an LED that lights up when the tag is detected by an RFID reader and offers greater accuracy than the RSSI search function.

Visitors from the Retail sector in particular, but also from other industries such as logistics, manufacturing and events, will be impressed by the Auto-ID solutions, RFID and QR Code solutions on the DENSO stand. With the devices and solutions from the inventor of the QR code, companies are ideally equipped for future challenges.
